Sunday Nailday | The Glam Mom

Sunday Nailday

Hi all!

Well, today was one of those days that I got all glam only to not go anywhere.  Instead, I stayed in and worked on getting my 2 year old used to the potty, which you'd think she'd be used to by now seeing as she is put on the potty several times a day when she goes to her Montessori program.  But, she's not.  So instead, I cleaned pee out of the carpet 3 times and then my other kid wet the bed for the first time in months.  Lookin' all cute, cleaning up pee . Such is the life of a mom of 3!

Well, here's my face for the day.

I actually put on eyeshadow.  A super simple smokey eye, because who doesn't love a smokey eye?!  This was done using my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.  It's the only eyeshadow I have at arms reach right now, but it's really all you need for daily looks.

I also did my nails!!!  It's been MONTHS since I did my nails!  With kids, I just don't take the chance that they'll dry before SOMEONE wakes up.  Today, I got all 3 kids down for their naps at the same time and so, I took the chance.  Here's what I used:

I know I'm late to the party, but Seche Vite is something that I've never really tried.  I mean, I've USED it - as a top coat.  But, I've never tested it's quick-dry claim.  But today I did.  After 3 coats of this Essie polish, I painted on one coat of Seche Vite in hopes that my nails would dry before a kid woke up.  And wouldn't you know it - as soon as I closed the bottle, my baby woke up from his nap prematurely.  I was timing my nails so I could test the dry time, so I know it was less than a minute.  But I careful grabbed the baby, and got him on my shoulder without messing up my nails and he went back to sleep so I could finish the test.

I let them sit for 9 minutes, just out of plain fear that they wouldn't be dry before I touched them.  But when I touched them, they were TOTALLY DRY!!! I mean, I pressed into them to be sure, and it didn't leave a mark.  I was actually shocked.  I thought this would be a real game changer.  BUT, life with kids is not easy on your hands.  And after 2 hours of living my life with all 3 of my kids awake, this happened:

This was NOT a shock, and now that it's been 6 hours, several of my nails are already chipped.  I'm pretty sure that by Tuesday (2 days from now) this mani will be completely ruined and I'll need to take it off.

I tried the quick dry spray on my toes, but I honestly forgot to check how fast it worked.  So I'll try it again another time.  But I'm glad I at least tried the Seche Vite's drying power.  It actually worked and I'm now a fan.  I will try it again for sure.  Maybe when my husband is home to do all the kid stuff so I can at least have nice nails for 6 hours.

Thanks for reading and until next time,

xoxo
