The Glam Mom Tests - Kenra's Platinum Line

Hi there!
I'm so late with this review, OMG.
So I'm just gonna get to it.

I was sent these products by Kenra Professional and I was happy to test out a few more products from this line, because I've used a few before and one of them is one of my favorite, favorite hair products!

I reviewed Kenra's Snail CC Cream last year. You can read that HERE.

Just to recap, Snail Essence is a highly concentrated blend of proteins proven to awaken the youth in hair by fighting all 10 signs of aging hair -
Dulling
Thinning
Breakage
Frizz
Dryness
Elasticity
Porosity
Scalp irritation
Unmanageability
Coarse Texture

I use the snail cream before I blow dry. I'll be honest I haven't noticed a real difference, but I do only wash once a week and my hair is very damaged from bleach. But it's definitely not hurting, so I will keep using it!

Now, THIS PRODUCT HERE! I'm obsessed with it!!! It was actually not sent to me - I bought it at the recommendation of a mom in one of my mom groups. I've been meaning to share this for sooooo long, but I'm actually the worst at blogging so...
I have really thick, kind of coarse hair, so blow drying can take a looooong time. This Kenra Blow Dry Spray works as a heat protectant, but also states that it will cut your drying time in half. And, seriously, IT WORKS!!! It is a bit oily, but I have dry hair so I don't mind that. And even if I did, the time it cuts down from blowdrying would make it worth it! TRY THIS!!!

OK - now on to the products I was actually sent to try out.

When it comes to shampoo, I rarely have a complaint. You can't really mess up soap, right?

The conditioner actually works well in my hair, detangles, leaves a good amount of slip so I can comb though it easily.

I've been using both of these for a few weeks and I have no complaints. BUT the scent could be off-putting to some. It's very perfume-y. It doesn't leave a fresh, clean scent to your hair. It leaves you smelling like you literally sprayed Chanel No. 5 into your hair. I actually LOVE it, but I'm not sure it's something that everyone would enjoy.
The Kenra Alcohol-Free Shaping Spray is actually very good hairspray! The hold IS Extra Firm, and I really like it! The scent is just like any regular hairspray, so no complaints there. I will keep using this - it works really well.

Last to discuss is Kenra's Heat Block Spray.
I found this product confusing. I originally just read Heat Block and thought it was a heat protectant so I blow dried my hair, sectioned it off to prep it for flat ironing and sprayed this on the section. Only to find it left my hair sticky and then I realized - it's not just heat protectant, but it's also hair spray!

This spray is enriched with bee propolis, a natural resin that forms a cast around the cuticle for heat protection. It's a quick-drying, high hold spray that is supposed to give a clean release from styling tools and provide heat protection up to 450°F.

I wasn't sure about this product. The idea of spraying hairspray on my hair BEFORE I heat style made me nervous, so I let it dry, brushed my hair until I felt like the product was out and then heat styled. I can't give you a real review on it because I was too afraid to try it on my hair.

A rep from Kenya clarified this product for me. She said "it is a 2 in 1 product: a Thermal Styling Spray and Hairspray. Therefore, it is designed for you to spray on your hair before you heat style, use your heat tool and then finish the style by spraying it all over for hold."

She said that since I have ethnic hair, this is an important for me to use to keep from damaging my hair and that and that I am using the proper heat styling tool, it will release clean.

I will give it a try next time I wash and update how it works.
Overall, I like this line a lot!!! I will keep using it for sure! You can get it at Ulta or Kenra Professional directly.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you try it out for yourselves!

Until next time,

xoxo

My Kids Are Cute. Should I Share Them More???

Hi there!

You've probably noticed that even though my blog is called The Glam MOM, there is not very much evidence on this site that I'm ACTUALLY a mom.  Photos of my children make an occasional appearance, but overall this is just me.

I'm thinking about changing that, but I haven't fully made up my mind. There are so many creeps on the Internet. I share a lot of my kids on my private Facebook page, but my blog and Instagram are public and I do worry about people stealing my kids photos for weird purposes.

And yes, I know even my private Facebook isn't REALLY private. But at least I feel like I have SOME control over it.
But my kids are just SO CUTE!!! I want the world to see them!!! Plus, my little girl - #2 - LOVES dressing up and posing (I wonder who she gets that from???) and I just love taking her photos because she's such a little doll. So I'm gonna start here and see where this goes.

My kids all have a modeling agent and every 3 months I have to update their photos and measurements. I'm behind on this, so yesterday I took advantage of the fact that they'd just had a bath and it wasn't freezing cold to grab their update photos.
#2 just looked so so so cute and I want to share her! Especially since she's wearing this super cute dress from BooHoo.
I love BooHoo for myself and they have super cute kids clothes starting at size 4. She usually wears a 5T, but I bought her this dress in a size 5/6, and I think it fits her pretty well. Maybe a little long, but that just means she'll be able to wear it for a while.
We layered it with this vest I found hidden in her closet from Crazy8. Crazy 8 is going out of business I think, so this vest isn't available anymore but I linked a similar one from Kohls that is really reasonably priced.

So what do you think? Should I start featuring my kids more??? I'm curious on other moms' thoughts on this.
Until next time,
xoxo

Lolleez Pops On Standby

Hi there!
I'm knocking on every single piece of wood I'm my house after I post this but...

My kids haven't been sick yet this school year!

How freaking amazing is that?!?! I know it's not going to last, so I have all my most-used kiddie medicines on standby.

Lolleez Pops is a new one. These were sent to me to try out, but (THANKFULLY!!!) We haven't needed them yet. But I know I will give them a try when the first cold with sore throat strikes!
The main ingredients are Pectin and Honey.

Pectin is an ingredient derived from citrus fruit that temporarily relieves swelling and irritation.

Lolleez are a USDA certified organic, worry free, gluten free, dairy free throat-soothing lollipop, made for kids 3 and over. They come in 3 flavors - Orange Mango, Strawberry and Watermelon - and are shaped flat for safety.
I have a real feeling my kids will enjoy these. Fingers crossed we won't need them soon, but I'm glad to have something all-natural on hand to give my kiddos to help ease some of their discomfort when they aren't feeling well.

I'll update when they give them a try!

Until next time,

xoxo

Happy 38th Birthday To Me!!!

Hi there!

Saturday was my birthday. My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday. He didn't believe me when I told him all I wanted was a night off from parenting. But that's really what I wanted.
I just wanted a night where I got to go to bed when I wanted to, not based on when my kids went to sleep. I wanted to not have a kid in my bed. And I wanted to wake up naturally, not by an alarm or a kid hitting me in the face.

And I got exactly what I wanted!

My mom came over around 4 and we took off around 4:45 to get to our 5:30 reservation at my favorite restaurant, Ruth's Chris. My dinner was delicious as always, and I maaaaay have gotten a little tipsy.
This dress from Inavie Boutique is so freaking cool!!! I wore this when it was provided by Inavie as an option for a SpeedBlogging event I took part in a few weeks ago. But once I put it on, I just HAD to have it for my birthday! Amanda, the owner, sent me a brand new one straight to my door the next day. I LOVE IT!!!
We were supposed to go to a casino, but instead we got pie from Baker's Square and went straight to our hotel and ate pie in bed and went to sleep by 11pm. And that was perfect! I woke up at 8am (which was actually 9am because it was also Daylight Savings) and we lounged in bed until 10 before we went to breakfast.
Breakfast was gross. But that's ok. I wasn't hungry anyway.

We headed to the Google Home event, which you can read about HERE, before we headed home to spend the rest of the day with our kids and family.
I've been trying to wear this kimono from BooHoo, but I wasn't able to style it with jeans. I decided to wear it with these WhoWhatWear STIRRUPS!!! Can you believe STIRRUPS are back??? I'm kind of obsessed with them!
Pizza and cake for dinner with my fam was fun. But after tomorrow, I SWEAR I won't be eating like this anymore!!!
And my birthday weekend will be perfectly complete after watching the Season Premier of The Real Housewives of Atlanta with the return of NENE AND KIM!!! I can't wait!!!!

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday by phone call, text message or social media. I appreciate it a lot!!!

Until next time,

xoxo

Google Home Mini Event!

Hi there,
Today there was a cool event happening downtown for the launch of Google's new Google Home Mini. I was able to go and claim a new Google Home Mini for my family and I'm so excited!
I previously reviewed Google Home when they released their 'New Parents e-Book'. And, for real, ever since we got Google, we use it Every.Single.Day. My kids ask it questions constantly and I'm always blasting music on it. I grabbed this new mini with the idea of putting it upstairs in our house. Our original is in the kitchen. My kids are going to be so excited to have another one!
The event is set up like a donut shop - because Mini is the size of a donut. Yes, it's that small! It comes in 3 colors - red, grey or black. I got grey. The line was pretty long, but thankfully I was able to bypass that thanks to blogger perks! But once it's your turn to go into the donut shop, you ask Google a question and after she answers it, you will get a surprise in a box - either 2 delicious donuts, or a Google Home Mini!
I went with my husband and we got one of each! There is no guarantee you will walk out with a Google Home, but a 50/50 chance may be worth it if you really want this technology in your home.
So check it out if you have time!!! It's running today and tomorrow (11/5 and 11/6) from 10am-6pm at 435 N Michigan Ave, in the common area between the Tribune Tower and the River. If you go and get one, let me know!!!

Until next time,

xoxo

Things That Happened Before the DVF Fashion Show

Hi there!

So yesterday was an interesting day. Some good stuff. Some not so good stuff. Here's the rundown.

My washing machine is broken, so I had to go to the laundr-o-mat for the first time in like 10 years.
I'll be honest - it was kind of painless. Using 5 washing machines at once is pretty convenient!

I left my car running on a major street accidentally. I was a few minutes late, so I ran out, thinking I'd turned it off and locked it. Only to come back 10 minutes later, from 2 blocks away, to find out it was still on and completely unlocked. Lucky for me it was still there when I got back!!!

I picked #3 up from school and his teacher informed me that he said F!@# and another kid repeated him. So, that was embarrassing.
The DVF Models
I spent over an hour in an Uber trying to get downtown. Rain is the worst. But I made it on time, technically! But my nerves got the better of me and instead of going straight to the event I was there for - A Diane Von Furstenburg shopping event and fashion show - I hid out in the bathroom on a different floor for about 15 minutes because I was too afraid to go into the party alone. That's me - shy and completely ridiculous!

The fashion show was fun! There were some really cute pieces. I didn't take many photos - I mostly shot InstaStories on Instagram. So check those out for another 10-ish hours before they disappear!
Dinner at Gibson Italia was fun with friends. There was a lot of talk of poop and dicks. Per usual LOL!
I have been dying to wear this vest from H by Halston that I got on Zulily. It's super affordable to get one for yourself!!!

Until next time,

xoxo
