The Glam Mom Tests: Stitch Fix - Fix #1

Hi there!

I've been wanting to try Stitch Fix for years. When they first started, they only went up to size 12, so I couldn't. But they've since expanded their sizes, so I decided to give it a try!

I made a try-on video to show how the items fit. Watch it below:

I tossed my invoices from this order, and I wasn't able to find links for everything. But here are a few items I was able to track down -

Let me know what you think! Have you tried this box??? What do you think of it?

And, if you'd like to try this subscription box for yourself, feel free to use my link for $25 off!

Until next time!

Jumpsuit in Jersey

Hi there!
This past weekend, I took off to New Jersey for 2 days, super last minute. Like, my husband bought my ticket at 11am and my flight left at 6:30pm. We had an emergency that kept us from taking our last few days of Spring Break together as a family. So instead, I took my daughter and my mom to my cousin Shana's Baby Shower in NJ.
I just wanted to share this TO DIE FOR jumpsuit that I got from New York and Company. I literally NEVER go into this store. But I was doing a new test shoot and was walking around the mall looking for fun items to bring. NY and Co had a "BLOW OUT SALE" sign in the window, so I ran in to look around. And let me tell you, they have SERIOUSLY upped their fashion game since the last time I went in there!
I used to go in there for basics when I worked an office job, but it's been a long time since I've even bothered with that place. But I was so impressed and ended up buying 3 items! I've linked this gorgeous jumpsuit below, along with a few others I'd love to try:

The baby shower was really fun! It's always fun to get to see my cousins!
Until next time,

xoxo

A Nice Spring Day With The Kids and Floral Utopia

Hi there!
There are 5 days left of this 2 week spring break. I'm out of ideas. #2 keeps refusing to leave the house. Husband is MIA. Whatevs. Today, since #2 didn't want to go out, I just took my time getting ready and went ahead and tried these beautiful products that Bare Minerals sent me.
The Floral Utopia Collection is perfect for spring! Just so many beautiful pinks and purples. And this highlighter?!!? OMG!!!
I did record a video, but I ran out of space on my phone, so instead of loading an incomplete video, I just scrapped it and took some photos instead.

The blushes are super pigmented. A little goes a LONG way!
The brushes are so soft and spread color evenly. Plus I love the handles! Purple is my fave color!
This highlighter - OMG! It's iridescent and goes on creamy and I just LOVE it!!! I'll be using this a LOT!
They eyeshadows. They are fine. Not super pigmented. I needed a lot to get the colors to show up, which is unusual for Bare Minerals. I don't use a base/primer ever, so maybe that would have made a difference. But I'm not sure.

We ended up going to the park eventually and to the craft store, which is always a wild time! I set up the bouncy house in the back yard for the evening while I made dinner. And all is good.

I have to get the kids out of the tub, so I'll keep this one short.

Check out all the products I used from this beautiful collection here -

LBD at BGT for Preckwinkle

Hi there!
Tonight my Brother in Law was a host for a fundraiser for Toni Preckwinkle, one of the candidates for Mayor of Chicago. I'll be honest - I don't know anything about the Mayoral candidates. I didn't go to this because I support her as a candidate. I went because it was important to my BIL to have the support of his family.
Anyway, I just felt like getting dressed up so I put in 2 sets of hair extensions and this mini dress from WhoWhatWear. To go to the Billy Goat Tavern. If you live in Chicago, you know this whole look was a big waste for the location lol! But at least I look decent in my photo with our would-be mayor.
I love a babydoll dress. This one is just adorable and has pockets, which I didnt even realize until I took these photos. You can get it here

Would you rock a babydoll dress? Tell me in the comments!

Also, what do you think of Toni Preckwinkle for Mayor? Really, tell me. I don't know anything about her or the other candidate, which is a shame. I never pay attention to politics!
Until next time!

What Drives Her Luncheon at the Chicago Auto Show

Hi there!
You guys! It's been MONTHS since I posted here! I've just been so busy - and kind of unmotivated when it comes to this blog. I just have given myself so many hobbies, I can't even keep up with myself LOL!

But last week I attended a fun, women-centric event that I want to share with you.

Last year I joined A Girls Guide To Cars for a tour around the auto show learning about how steel was used in the automotive industry. This year, A Girls Guide... invited me to sit in on their What Drives Her Luncheon and Panel Discussion. Let me tell you: it was enlightening.
Panlists during the Work/Life Balance portion of the discussion
I have bought a few cars on my own in my life. Shopped for them myself, did the negotiating, signed my own financing papers. Never have I really given any thought to the marketing behind what led me to my purchases. And what I learned at this luncheon is that usually, the automotive industry doesn't take women in to account when they market to us or deal with us in person.
During the #SeeHer : How Women Are Seen In Media portion of the luncheon, women feel misunderstood and underrepresented in automobile marketing, even though many of us are the main decisions makers in car-related decisions.
A portion of the presentation that really stuck with me was when a few executives from Turtle Wax and Cars.com were discussing work-life balance. Lauren Brandt from Facebook said she truly doesn't believe there is a work-life balance - that some weeks will just be work heavy. Kerri Wise of TrueCar said that you have to remember the world WILL revolve without you - don't think that a job won't get don't just because you aren't the one to do it. So, take care of your family first - your job can wait. Kathy Gilbert of CDK said she used to immerse herself in work because she didn't have a husband or children like her coworkers. But she realized that that was not working for her and she found herself some hobbies to stay busy outside of work hours. I think that work/life balance is something that all working women struggle with, so it was nice to hear from some women in leadership positions on how they deal with this issue.
Besides these women inspiring other women to look for work in a field that women might feel isn't meant for them, A Girls' Guide treated us to a lovely lunch during the panel, wine and dessert at the Hyundai showroom and even held a raffle for prizes sponsored by the brands the panelists represented.
Thanks for the treats Hyundai!
After the luncheon was over, fellow blogger LaToya (www.thefatgirloffashion.com) used our passes to explore the site of the giant showroom we already had access to. We had fun roaming around looking at the cars and taking silly photos. My favorite car on the floor was this Chevy truck made entirely of LEGOS!!! How cool is this!!!
Here are a few more photos from our Auto Show adventure:
Look at these ladies! Check them out on Instagram!

I just loved the matte ombre paint job of this Nissan truck!
This truck was difficult to get into! Props to our Marines!!!
The news anchor that was sitting here was nice enough to let us do a mini shoot here<3
If you'd be interested in attending The 4th Annual What Drives Her Luncheon next year, follow A Girls' Guide To Cars and lookout for their post announcing the event and how to qualify to attend.

Until next time,

xoxo
