Parents' Night Out(fits)!

Hi there!
We've had such a busy few  days! Events, more events, photoshoots, running, family time. I'm exhausdted!!!

Last week was the 1st Grade Parents' Gathering at Gaslight on Clark St. in Lincoln Park. I'm one of the 1st grade chair, so we had to plan the event. It was fun buying decorations and setting up for it. Many guests showed up later than expected, so we were worried at first that no one was going to show up. But it ended up being a really nice event.

I wore this super cute pink corduroy jumpsuit from Eloquii. I got a text message from them when it was released and I IMMEDIATELY ordered it. It fits so nice and has stretch to it, so it's really comfortable.  It was a total hit at the party!

This past Monday was the SK (Senior Kindergarten) Parent Gathering. I didn't have to arrange anything for this one, just attend. We were a little late because we had to wait for my mom to get off work before she could come sit with the kids. That's ok - it went kind of late.
It was at this super cute hotel bar called the J. Parker inside the Hotel Lincoln. We drive by this hotel regularly, but never considered going inside. It looks like a dive on the outside, but inside, it's adorable!!!

The event was nice. In all honesty, I have a really hard time at functions like these. I'm quite the introvert. I don't do well with small talk, especially with strangers. It takes me a VERY long time to open up. It's a fault I've had my whole life. I try to get through it, but in general, I just kind of shut down in social situations and it honestly makes it hard to make friends. My husband is one of the few people that I can talk to without trouble, so I tend to cling to him. Which can look weird at parties LOL! I almost always end up standing in a group of guys, just so I can stick close to my husband, and then I think it makes the women think I don't like them. That's not true - I just find it easier to stay with my husband than make myself and everyone else uncomfortable with my awkward conversation LOL
ANYWAY! Despite my behavior (which was even worse because I drank a vodka cocktail really quickly without eating any food!), I looked cute!!!
I ordered this top the same day I ordered the jumpsuit and I love the fit of it.

And can we talk about this little purse?!??! I got this in London from Primark. It was the equivalent of about $13. I looked and they don't have it anymore. But they have a smaller, cheaper version HERE.
Next week is Halloween and then my BIRTHDAY!!! So be on the lookout for more fun outfit posts after the 4th :)

Until next time!

xoxo

The Makeup Show 2018

Hi there!!!

Just wanted to share a quick post about The Makeup Show!
Last night I was invited to a super fun Drag Makeup and Fashion Show at Revel Fulton Market to kick off The Makeup Show weekend! I'd never been to any sort of drag show, so I was super excited! The makeup was fabulous! Here are a few photos:
This morning was the press preview. I'm so dumb - for some reason I put it in my calendar for 9:30am, when it actually started at 9!!! I made it at exactly 9:30, and thankfully I didn't miss much. The Makeup Show is always so generous and gives a fabulous gift bag to press. I haven't had time to open it yet, but I will probably make a video of all of the items from the gift bag and items that I purchased. I tried to be reasonable, but sometimes the pretty colors just have me mesmerized and I lose control!!!
I didn't take many photos, mostly videos. But I got some good stuff and can't wait to test it all out!!! Look out for posts coming up soon!

I had a hard time deciding what to wear, but I'd just gotten these track pants from Eloqii the night before and they are so cute! So I decided to keep it comfy since I was going to be walking around all morning.
These track pants are on sale for 30% off this weekend! And the more you buy, the more you'll save!
As you can see I got a few things from Frends amd Urban Decay, but that's def not all. I'll share soon!

Have a great weekend y'all!

Until next time,
xoxo

Grain Berry Chocolate-Banana Bran Muffins

This post is sponsored by Grain Berry and
Jewel-Osco, but all opinions are my own.
Hi there!
I have a recipe for you this time! We all know I hate cooking, but I had help from some little cuties this time, so it was actually enjoyable!

My kids LOVE muffins, but I've never actually made them for them. We usually just buy them. But I was sent some Grain Berry cereal to try and thought it would be fun to attempt to make them a healthier version - they NEVER KNEW I was using a healthy cereal to make them these muffins!
There are a lot of benefits of Grain Berry Cereals. I used the Grain Berry Multi-Bran Flakes with Onyx Sorghum. Onyx Sorghum is a grain developed by Texas A&M University. This grain is a blend of powerful antioxidants that combat a whole spectrum of free radical attackers. Onyx can even help slow sugar and carbohydrate absorption in our gut (http://grainberry.com/about-us/what-is-grain-berry-onyx/).
My son asked for banana muffins. But since I had it, I added in some of a popular hazelnut chocolate spread to give the muffins a little extra sweetness. And they tasted really, really good! I'll add some adjustments I would make for the next round at the end.

Grain Berry
Chocolate-Banana
Bran Muffins
Ingredients
  • 3 cups of Grain Berry cereal
  • 2 cups milk (I used whole)
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 2/3 cups light brown sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • .25 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs vegetable oil
  • 2-3 bananas (depending on desired sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup Nutella Hazelnut Spread
Directions
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix the Grain Berry cereal with 1.5 cups milk and set to the side to soften.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, light brown sugar, baking powder and salt together.
  • When cereal is soft, mash into a paste-like texture then pour into the large bowl.
  • In large bowl, add in egg and vegetable oil and mix all ingredients together. Add in extra 1/2 cup milk to soften.
  • Mash in bananas and add Nutella. Mix until all ingredients are fully blended.
  • Separate equally into greased, non-stick muffin tin.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  • Let cool before removing from tin.
  • And, ENJOY!!!
I only had a mini-muffin tin and I filled them all the way to the top, but I still had extra mix. If you are making regular muffins, you should be able to get at least 12 muffins from the mix, maybe a few extra.
My kids DEVOURED these!!! I only used 2 bananas and a 1/2 cup of Nutella. When I make these again, I will add an extra banana and ANOTHER 1/2 cup of Nutella for extra sweetness. My husband liked them as-is specifically because they weren't TOO sweet. Do whatever you think is best in terms of the chocolate and banana, based on your specific taste.
These were fun to make! Especially because I had my cutie-pie niece and my #3 willing to help me out.
If you try them out, include your kids in the process! I don't usually let them cook with me, but this time, I didn't mind. And it was so fun to see them love the muffins we created together! And try out Grain Berry cereal! It tastes great AND it's good for you! It's available at all Jewel-Osco Stores in Chicagoland. Use the Store Finder to find stores outside of Illinois.
Until next time,

xoxo

Field Trip Mom

Hi there!
Yesterday I went on what will be my kids' last field trip at their Montessori school.
This was my 4th time on this trip I think and I've loved going every year! I was not a chaperone, but I did end up keeping an eye on another kid besides my own. My baby has a bestie, and they wanted to play together the whole time.
There is nothing better than watching your kids enjoy life. These boys had SO MUCH FUN together, it was just beautiful!!! Riding a wagon, playing on three playground, in a giant pit of corn, feeding animals. So many advertises in one day! If you're in the Chicagoland area and have never been to Goebbett's Farm, you're missing out!
I wore this cute balloon sleeve top from Target, by Ava & Viv. It's lightweight and semi-sheer, so even though it ended up being 85 degrees on October 3rd (!!!), I didn't feel like I was dying. I like that it's got a fitted shape - not boxy like I usually find Ava & Viv to be. I rarely buy clothes from that line because I don't find then flattering. But the shape of this gave me shape and I love it!
Can we talk about this Gucci Bucket Bag I'm carrying?!?!? It's another vintage piece I grabbed from GucciKindOfDay on Instagram. Mine is fro the 80's.

The current Ophida Bucket Bag is selling for over $1800. I paid much, much, much less for the exact same look. I kinda like having the original instead of the current copy! Check out Tina's page for some cool vintage Gucci finds!

Until next time!

Puzzles The Whole Family Can Do

This post is sponsored by Jigsaw Puzzle but the
content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Hi there!
A few weeks ago when we went on vacation to Europe, we bought all of our kids iPads to take on the trip. We knew they were going to need entertainment. Until that trip, we only had 1 iPad and they had to shate it. That would NOT work on an 8 hour flight.
But we knew the iPads were going to become an addiction, so I tried to load them with apps that would at least stimulate their brains a little. I want to share one that has become a favorite - Jigsaw Puzzle.
It is its name - jigsaw puzzles. Over 20,000 of them to choose from!!!
What's super cool about it is you can choose the number of pieces the puzzles have. Only a few for kids to do, or up to 400 pieces for adults - even more if you are using a tablet.
This was an awesome way to spend time on our trip and it's carried over at home. I love this app and so do my kids! When I have a few minutes of down time, I turn this on.
It's been a benefit because as a stay at home mom, sometimes my days get all caught up in house work and errands (and blogging) and I don't get much time to do things to really stimulate my brain. We all know puzzles, of any kind,  help keep your brain sharp. So I love that I have access to so many colorful and challenging puzzles right on my phone or iPad. And they are great practice for the kids too!
Learn more about Jigsaw Puzzle by downloading the game in the Apple Store or the Google Play store.

And HAVE FUN!!!

Until next time,

xoxo
